Ovid’s Metamorphoses and the Remaking of Myth
November 2, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Among the most influential poems ever written, Ovid’s Metamorphoses remains our foremost source for classical mythology. It is also a wildly unfaithful retelling. Princeton University’s C. Luke Soucy will discuss the appeal and legacy of Ovid’s irreverent epic from antiquity through the Renaissance and into the present, as well as the challenges he encountered creating his National Translation Award–shortlisted translation of the work.
