No registration is required and admission is free for our events.. Doors open at 4:45 pm and seating is first come, first served until capacity is reached. The community is invited to bring something to share in the reception following the program.

Michelangelo’s Unfinished Sculptures

Michelangelo Buonarroti left over half of his marble sculptures—some 26 of his 44 works, ranging from his very first carving to his last—in various unfinished states (non-finito). Carolina Mangone of Princeton University will discuss the problem and appeal of the non-finito, focusing on a handful of Michelangelo’s sculptures and their relationship to the preparatory
arts of drawing and modeling.
